Out of the 33 individuals that made the trip to Tabusintac, 26 were Crees from Chisasibi, Wemindji, Eastmain, and Waskaganish. The group participated in various activities from October 1st to the 3rd. Some of the activities that we did were going on lobster boats, hunting, touring the Tabusintac River, visiting the eelgrass beds in Tabusintac Bay, and holding a steering committee meeting for the Coastal Habitat Comprehensive Research Project.

It is with much gratitude that we begin by recognizing the Crees who travelled more than a thousand km to take part in the event. Additionally, we would like to express our gratitude to the CHCRP researchers and steering committee members who were present at the event. We are incredibly grateful to Samantha Denny Robichaud and Billie-Joe Fowler for their time and generosity in making this event possible.

Together, we have created lots of good memories – and we look forward to the Esgenoôpetitj Mi’kmaq First Nation visit to Eeyou Istchee! Visit our project Facebook page to see more photos of the event!
