This summer, the CHCRP team explored eelgrass meadows across Eeyou Istchee to answer a pressing question: as coastal waters grow murkier, can eelgrass still get the light it needs to thrive? We suspect decades of shifting water quality may already be affecting how much eelgrass grows each summer — and how much energy it can store to survive the winter.

The answer matters. It will help shape how local, community-led leadership manages these coastal habitats for years to come.
